Positive Reinforcement and Treat Training

Positive reinforcement means giving your Labrador Retriever something pleasant or rewarding immediately after she does something you want her to do. It makes that behavior more likely to occur in the future, and is one of the most powerful tools for shaping or changing your Labrador Retriever’s behavior.

Timing is the key with positive reinforcement Labrador Retriever training. Your Labrador Retriever must be rewarded immediately for responding appropriately to a cue. That is, through a reinforcement (dog treat), your dog will associate particular behaviors with actual rewards. Consistency is essential!!

In this video, Caninestein's Stephanie Colman talks about Treat Training and getting started with positive reinforcement.
