Hello, I really enjoy your Labrador blog, it is loaded with very informative information that should help me with my new Labrador puppy.

I have a four month old chocolate Labrador Retriever named Backside that I would love to crate train. I was wondering if you could provide me with some help with this. I will send photos as soon as I upload them from my camera.

Thank you and God Bless,
Stephon

All About Labradors Answer:

Hello Stephon and congratulations on your new Labrador Retriever puppy. Love the name, I haven't heard that one.

I believe you have made an excellent choice in deciding to crate train your Labrador Retriever. It provides you Labrador Retriever with it's own private sanctuary while helping him learn the house rules. It also will keep your property safe while you are out and keep your Labrador safe. I really believe crate training is well worth the time and effort.

I have supplied you with wonderful resource for you to start your crate training as well as other resources for puppy and dog training. If you have any problems understanding anything, please let me know. I am here to answer any other questions you may have along the way.

Hi, I have a 14 week old yellow lab female and she is not crate trainging well. Let me say first that I also have a 7 year old Chocolate lab who crate trained WONDERFULY. I tried using the crates divider and gave her only a little room and she still goes in her cage and lays in it. I took out the divider because she whould lay/roll in her stool and jump all over the walls and divider which made the cleaning so much worse. She still goes in her cage even after being let out @midnight when I get home from work. She is doing pretty well with not going in the house, she just doesn't seem to have any type knowledge about using the bathroom, even though she is regularly let out every other hour. Is this because the "breeder" was not so great with the puppies, and how can I fix this now? Thanks Jennifer
